Michigan has lost 143,000 jobs since President Obama took office. Over a quarter of a million workers have left the labor force. Michigan's official unemployment is more than 9 percent. In Michigan, as in the rest of the country, if you ask people whether they are better off than they were four years ago, the answer is no. Read More

America’s energy policy is critical to our national security and economic growth. Dependence upon foreign sources of oil limits our national security options, undermines our interests, and raises the cost of doing business in America. Unfortunately, President’s Obama’s approach has facilitated foreign dependence by restricting oil and gas drilling, making it more difficult to get nuclear permits, hobbling our coal industry, and picking winners and losers through failed pet energy projects. When it comes to America’s first freedom, religious freedom, the Obama Administration has strong rhetoric – but its policies, regulations, and actions reveal a very different agenda. President Barack Obama recently issued a national proclamation commemorating Religious Freedom Day. With his words, he honored the aspiration of countless settlers who came to America “to practice their beliefs free from prejudice and persecution.” Read More

The president says "the threat of war is receding" but he’s wrong. The war is on, and its front lines are advancing towards us and our allies, above all toward Israel. We're facing a global alliance that includes Russia, North Korea, China, Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Ecuador and of course Cuba. They are outspoken in their desire to weaken us and drive us out of their regions. Some of them--Iran, and the radical Islamists whose rise to power has been facilitated by this president--speak eagerly of destroying us, and our allies, especially Israel. Read More

President Obama’s flat-out rejection of the Keystone Pipeline is radical, irresponsible, and dumbfounding. Sadly though, It is yet another example of this President’s capitulation to the radical environmental fringe which puts our economy and national security at risk. Our nation needs to become energy independent and this pipeline would have been an important step in that direction. Instead of an estimated twenty thousand jobs going to Americans – those jobs will go to our international competitors like China. Read More

This election, the most important of our generation, is about ideas and core concepts about the role that government should play in individuals’ lives.  The Liberal-Left has and will continue to expand the size and scope of the federal government, insisting that the government has the authority to dictate personal health decisions. There is very little that the modern liberal Democrat believes is off-limits for the government. Read More

The other Republican candidates simply check the pro-life box. America needs leadership. Monday marks the first day of the fourth decade of Roe v. Wade, but together we can make it the decade when Roe is overturned. With a president committed to defending life and appointing originalist judges, we will turn the tide for life and human dignity. Name the last nominee to the Supreme Court by a Democratic president who turned out to be a judicial conservative. Maybe Justice Byron White, appointed by John F. Kennedy, who dissented from Roe v. Wade, but one largely draws a blank. Ask the converse, and the list is long and disheartening. Read More

Iran’s President Ahmadinejad was selling tyranny on a tour of Latin America last week, visiting his strategic allies in Cuba, Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Ecuador.  He’s wasn’t vacationing; he was talking about how to defeat the United States.  Iran is organizing a Latin terror network, assembling weapons, including missiles that can hit us, exploring for uranium for its nuclear weapons program, and using Latin American banks, ships, and ports to avoid sanctions, launder money, and transport narcotics.
