Two years ago, President Obama signed into law the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, or as we all have come to know it – “ObamaCare.” ObamaCare is the trifecta of all that is wrong with this Administration: a massive tax bill, an unprecedented expansion of the federal government, and a combination of unaffordable entitlement programs that will burden the economy and stifle our ability to make personal decisions about our health. But sadly, for many American families, that dream has been crushed. The country's housing collapse has resulted in 10 million homes being worth less than their mortgage value. We need bold tax reform, but Mitt Romney wants to tinker at the margins. America's budget process is broken. Our economy and American families are struggling, and the country needs bold reforms and major restructuring, not tinkering at the margins. On Aug. 27, 2010, President Obama's then-chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said our national debt is "[t]he most significant threat to our national security." He then went on to point out that the interest on that debt in 2012 will approach the equivalent of the entire defense budget for a year. Apparently, as his new National Defense Strategy suggests, the president put those two ideas together and concluded that cutting the defense budget is the best way to eliminate the debt threat.
